The Fbody

Never would I have thought...

that I would love this generation of Camaro as much as I do! Many regard this generation of Camaro as the ugliest ever built, and while I have my gripes about those comments, I also respect that the front end just isn't for everyone. Some love it, some hate it and I end up somewhere in the nuanced middle where I recognize that in stock form it's not the best shape but with the right body color and the right modifications it can actually look really really good!

I'm not here to wax-poetic, or argue the semantics of Camaro adjectives, I'm here to talk about a fantastic slab of American modern muscle that I picked up in 2022!

Huge thanks goes out to Brian, owner of Black River Motorsports Park, for cutting me a sweet deal on this slice of sexinesss.

The '99 Camaro is a T56/LS1 car with a pretty unique history where it actually lived in Hawaii for a while then made it's way BACK to the continuntal United States. Wild to think someone spent that much money to ship it across the Pacific TWICE!

The car isn't without it's flaws.

Dents, mismatched colors, worn synchros and 130k miles of abuse shows on this old girl. But, I'll say that she wears the battle scars well and still performs as if we cut 10 years off her age.

Currently the car has a number of necessary mods/repairs that will need to take priority such as new seats, suspension refresh and solving the issue of reverse pop-out that keeps this poor thing from going backwards up even the smallest of grade. The body will for sure be getting cleaned up, repairs and fresh paint!

Is it a track car or not?!

This is a question I get asked, and a question I ask myself a lot. Originally I purchased the fbody to be a drift car/track car because I don't have any real sentimental attachment to these cars and they aren't my first choice for a performance-focused project.... well, the silly thing won me over. So as of 2023 I'll simply say that no, it's not going to be a dedicated track toy! I really like the car despite the issues that it has and it's here to stay, so it's time to give it the FULL Dad Mods treatment and break some necks when it drives past!
